The story about Proffteiner
Proffteiner was founded by professional fisherman Jim, who has over 20 years of experience with trap fishing. After a shoulder injury ended his fishing career, he had to find a new path forward.
The result was The Viking Trap – a completely new type of crab trap developed to deliver greater catches, fewer hauls, and reduced strain on the body. With its distinctive pyramid shape and multi-level entrances, it is designed to attract more crabs using less bait and lowering operational costs. Altogether, this can significantly improve profitability for the fisherman.
Following the success of The Viking Trap, we developed The Midgard Trap, specifically adapted for string fishing, based on requests and needs from fishermen along the entire coastline. The Midgard Trap is light and easy to handle, making it ideal for both professional and recreational fishermen using trap haulers.
The latest addition to our trap family is The Odin Trap. This is our lightest trap to date, built with durable netting. It’s specially developed for fishermen who want a even simpler and more manageable option—without compromising on catch efficiency. Odinteina features the same patented design with two entry levels and is equally well-suited for both crab and lobster fishing.
With testing and development facilities in Rørvik and a warehouse in Spydeberg, we are now aiming to become the preferred specialist in traps and accessories – for fishermen who demand efficiency, quality, and reliability.
